County Manager
District Attorney The District Attorney represents the State of Georgia in the prosecution of felony crimes committed in Henry County. This representation involves assisting victims of crimes in a variety of ways (See Victim Services Program for details), attending Grand Juries and serving as their legal advisor, conducting jury trials for those criminal cases that do not plead guilty, and representing the State in drug forfeiture cases by seeking to condemn profits made by drug dealers. The District Attorney also prosecutes delinquency cases in the Juvenile Court of Henry County.

North Mt. Carmel Park Henry County's largest public playground, complete with a fitness circuit, handicap accessible equipment, a separate play area to inspire imaginative play in little ones, and a specially designed "roadway" on which kids can ride their bikes and bigwheels while learning the "rules of the road".
Panola Park This unusual park near Atlanta was created to protect a 100-acre granite Monadnock (mountain) often compared to Stone Mountain and Arabia Mountain. Minimally developed, Panola Mountain shelters rare plants of the Piedmont region. Hikers may explore the park's watershed and granite outcrop on their own, or they may join park staff for guided hikes onto the restricted-access mountain. Children especially enjoy the interpretive center with live exhibits, including bees, bats, snakes and turtles. Due to its delicate ecological features, Panola Mountain was designated a Nation Natural Landmark, and pets and bicycles are not allowed on trails.

Atlanta Greek Festival This tribute to Greek culture attracts more than 50,000 people over four days in late September. There's Greek music, dancing, wine, and food: souvlaki, moussaka, gyros and honey-dripping baklava are made by members of the church.
Atlanta Jazz Festival Started in 1977, this showcase of local and national jazz talent is one of the largest of its kind in the city. All events on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend are free and run from 1 to 10 PM. On the days before the event, various jazz artists give free, brown-bag lunchtime concerts in Woodruff Park, at Marietta and Peachtree streets downtown. The festival is sponsored by the City of Atlanta.

Atlanta Peach Caribbean Festival Atlanta is home to many people who trace their roots to the Caribbean islands. This festival, held over Memorial Day weekend, celebrates Caribbean culture with a parade, a soccer tournament, parties, art shows and performances. Most events are free.
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra presents holiday concerts for both adults and children. A New Year's Eve concert showcases favorite waltzes and marches.
Concerts by the Springs The Concerts by the Springs is an annual series of free outdoor concerts, open to the public. The five-part series, on the grounds of the Sandy Springs Historic Site, encourages concert attendees to bring blankets, chairs and refreshments to enjoy in the park setting. The concert series includes a variety of music styles showcasing a different local artist or group at each event. Held from April through August.
Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival Conyer's International Horse Park.Usually held the thrid weekend in March.
Decatur Arts Festival The city of Decatur, 6 miles east of downtown, hosts this popular festival, which has grown substantially in recent years. Among the many activities offered over Memorial Day weekend are art exhibits, a children's festival, storytellers, jugglers, magicians, pony rides, international music and dance and literary events.
Fabulous Fox Theatre This beautiful 1920s structure was built as an Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque and features Moorish designs inside and out, including onion domes, minarets, and arches. An open-air Arabian courtyard serves as the auditorium. The Fox showcases a colossal theater organ with four keyboards, 3,622 pipes, 376 stops, and 42 ranks. This attraction is one of Atlanta's most beloved landmarks.
Georgia Renaissance Festival Multi-acre kingdom is a re-creation of a 16th Century European Country Faire where you can shop, eat and revel with a cast of nearly 1,000 colorfully costumed characters . Ten stages of music and comedy shows are set against a permanent backdrop of Tudor homes and enchanting cottages! Cheer your champion knight at the Royal Equestrian Joust Arena. Feast like a King on the hearty food and drink of the period, shop for fine handcrafted treasures and watch demonstrations of the time-honored arts of weaving, coin minting, spinning, sculpting, glass blowing, and leather crafting and enjoy games and rides for all ages. Held from April until early June.
Georgia Shakespeare Festival The season opens in mid-June, with productions going on through October. About 90 minutes before each evening's performance or Sunday matinee, show goers are invited to picnic on the lawn around the Center.
Scottish Festival and Highland Games The military band starts at 8 PM in the Coliseum. There are also pipe and drum bands and brass bands, highland dancers and country dancers.
Sweet Auburn Heritage Festival For nearly a century Auburn Avenue has been the backbone of black Atlanta. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth home, church and tomb are part of a National Historic Site on Auburn. The famous Royal Peacock Lounge once showcased soul music stars such as James Brown and Stevie Wonder; it continues to operate today. This festival in late September celebrates the street's rich heritage with three days of music, food, fun and shopping. No admission charged.
The Atlanta Ballet-The Nutcracker The Atlanta Ballet's annual production of The Nutcracker, staged from early December through Christmas, has been a holiday tradition for more than 30 years) The production features an orchestra, a full company of dancers and more than 200 children. Tickets go on sale at the beginning of October.
The Henry Players The Henry Players were established in 1991 when a small group of community theatre buffs realized their dream of forming a thriving community theatre close to home. A totally volunteer organization.
Virginia-Highland Summerfest Founded in 1916 and originally called North Boulevard Park, the Virginia-Highland neighborhood annually throws this popular, free party featuring bands, food from area restaurants and lots of fun for the children. It's held the first full weekend in June.

Clayton County Airport - Tara Field The Clayton County Airport -Tara Field is located at 474 Speedway Boulevard in Hampton, just west of the Atlanta Motor Speedway. In 1994 the Board of Commissioners established Tara Field. The primary goal of the Airport is to plan and operate a safe, adequate, and efficient aviation transportation system. In order to accomplish this goal, Clayton County Airport - Tara Field must establish and continuously update a comprehensive program of aviation maintenance and planning.
Clayton County Ctran You can ride C-TRAN in and around Clayton County. Whether it's from your home to your work, shopping at Southlake Mall, or to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, enjoy the ride and leave the driving to us. All C-TRAN buses are lift-equipped making it accessible for patrons with disabilities. We provide priority seating for our senior citizens and persons with disabilities at the front of each bus. We also offer Paratransit Service. C-TRAN buses operate on CNG (compressed natural gas) which is a clean-burning fuel that significantly reduces vehicle emissions, greenhouse gases and toxins versus gasoline fueled vehicles. Each C-TRAN bus is returned to Laredo Garage at the end of the day to be refueled and prepared for the next days service.
Hartsfiled-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Hartsfield-Jackson bears the proud distinction of being "the worlds busiest passenger airport." The Airport has long been known as a major connecting hub serving numerous destinations around the globe. However, its vitality of growth is no longer merely a product of its role as a prime-interlining hub. Each year, an increasing number of air travelers start or finish their journeys in the Southeast region of the United States.
Transportation and Development The Clayton County TCC serves as the command center for the operation of more than 135 traffic signals, 44 surveillance cameras, and 3 changeable message signs. The TCC is staffed 10.5 hours each day from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our primary goal is to provide a safe and efficient transportation system in Clayton County. By continuously monitoring the flow of traffic along our major arterials we are able to provide "real-time" information concerning accidents, lane closures, road construction, signal malfunctions, and other incidents.

Movies by Moonlight was founded by two young professionals who left their corporate jobs to build a business that would reach out and contribute to the community. Performing Arts Center Through the Clayton County Board of Education, the citizens of Clayton County own and operate one of the most unique performing arts venues in the United States. During these first ten years of operation, the Performing Arts Center has welcomed over two million persons as performers or audience members. In addition to throngs of Clayton County and Atlanta area users, touring performers from Africa, Canada, China, England, India, Japan, Korea, the former Soviet Union and Southeast Asia have graced the Performing Arts Center stages. Between four hundred and five hundred events occur in the Performing Arts Center each year. With a seating capacity of 1800 this auditorium is the third largest in metropolitan Atlanta. At the rear of this huge room, there are two turntables housing 250 and 350 seats respectively. When the turntables are rotated, the seats become seating for the Lloyd Tarpley Theatre and the Recital Hall. Thus three events can, and often do take place simultaneously. Indeed the Clayton County Schools Performing Arts Center is the center of artistic activity for Clayton County.
